Where Do Commanders Rank With ‘Quality Over Quantity’ Moves?

The Washington Commanders have doubled down on Jayden Daniels' rookie season, which has improved two key areas for the quarterback.

Terry McLaurin needed receiver help and he got it in Deebo Samuel, while left tackle was seen as a position of need, and Washington traded for Houston Texans Pro Bowler Laremy Tunsil.

Aside from that, the Commanders have worked to re-sign their own, with Zach Ertz, Marcus Mariota, and Bobby Wagner agreeing to stick around.

So just because only a select few players have walked through the doors doesn't mean the Commanders haven't gotten better. For ESPN's Field Yates, Dan Quinn's team is his biggest improver this offseason.

"The Washington Commanders," Yates writes. "There are certain instances in which quality over quantity matters to me in free agency, and Washington would fit that criteria in this instance. Acquiring left tackle Laremy Tunsil solidifies a premium spot in front of Jayden Daniels, while a small-cost trade for receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. provides a boost as well. Washington should feel emboldened to make moves now following what was maybe the best rookie quarterback season ever."

The Commanders also have only five draft picks to work with, a far cry from the 10 they had in the top 100 last offseason. But right now, general manager Adam Peters isn't worried about picks; he wants players.

With Samuel a big upgrade at receiver and Tunsil, a five-time Pro Bowler, now protecting Daniels' blindside, the Commanders have improved in two positions they needed to.

Are they the "big" improvers? Granted, that is in the eye of the beholder, but you will be struggling to make the case that Washington isn't at least a little bit better than they were a year ago.
