**DaysofPal-** In a grim update on the humanitarian situation in Gaza, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has confirmed that no aid has entered the Gaza Strip since the beginning of March due to Israeli closure.
This marks the longest period without assistance since October 2023, compounding the suffering of over two million Palestinians trapped in the enclave amid escalating violence and deprivation.
#### A Stark Warning from UNRWA
Speaking during the weekly press conference at the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland, Wissam Rose, Deputy Director of UNRWA Operations in Gaza, delivered a somber assessment of the situation via a digital platform.
He revealed that the Israeli occupation’s renewed genocidal war, which began last Tuesday, has pushed the already dire conditions in Gaza to catastrophic levels.
“The progress achieved during the six weeks of the ceasefire has been reversed,” Rose stated. “If the ceasefire is not restored, it will result in massive loss of life, destruction of infrastructure and property, an increased risk of infectious diseases, and immense psychological trauma for the civilian population—especially the one million children living in Gaza.”
Rose highlighted that the recent Israeli bombardment has left medical facilities overwhelmed and displaced thousands more civilians.
Medical sources report that approximately 600 people have been killed since the resumption of hostilities, including 200 women and children. The death toll continues to rise, with over 1,000 others injured , many of them critically.
#### Evacuation Orders and Displacement
The Israeli occupation’s ongoing issuance of “evacuation orders” has forced tens of thousands of Palestinians to flee their homes once again. Widespread displacement has further destabilized communities already struggling to survive under siege.
Rose noted that service disruptions caused by Israeli shelling have made it nearly impossible for civilians to access essential services such as hospitals and aid distribution centers. With no fuel or supplies entering Gaza since early March, critical infrastructure—including water systems, sanitation facilities, and power grids—has collapsed, exacerbating the public health crisis.
#### A Ceasefire That Brought Hope—and Now Despair
During the six-week ceasefire that ended abruptly earlier this month, UNRWA had managed to deliver significantly more aid than in the preceding six months combined. However, the breakdown of the truce has undone all those efforts, plunging Gaza back into chaos.
“The situation has now become worse than before,” Rose emphasized. The lack of aid deliveries means that food, medicine, and other vital resources are running dangerously low, leaving families to face starvation and preventable illnesses.
Since Israeli Occupation resumed its so-called “war of extermination” in the Gaza Strip last Tuesday, the devastation has been relentless. By Thursday evening, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that the number of fatalities had reached 600, with 70% of victims being children, women, and the elderly.
Thousands more have sustained injuries, overwhelming hospitals already operating under extreme duress due to shortages of staff, equipment, and electricity.
#### A Call for Immediate Action
The UN official urged the international community to intervene urgently to restore the ceasefire and ensure the safe passage of aid into Gaza. Without immediate action, he warned, the consequences will be catastrophic—not only for the current generation but also for the future of Palestine.
“The humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza demands urgent attention,” Rose stressed. “We cannot allow the blockade of aid to continue while innocent lives hang in the balance. The world must act decisively to protect the most vulnerable populations and uphold international humanitarian law.”
#### A Bleak Outlook
As the conflict drags on, the people of Gaza find themselves caught between relentless airstrikes and a suffocating blockade. For millions of civilians, including countless children, survival grows increasingly precarious with each passing day.
Without a swift resolution to the crisis and the resumption of humanitarian aid, the specter of famine, disease, and widespread loss of life looms large over the Gaza Strip. The failure of the international community to hold accountable those perpetrating these atrocities risks entrenching yet another cycle of suffering for generations to come.
