Man Utd 'chasing deal' that would give Ruben Amorim four of Europe's top 20 wonderkids

Manchester United have reportedly shown an interest in Juventus prodigy Kenan Yildiz, who would add to their already budding youthful ranks. The Turkish 19-year-old may be targeted by Ruben Amorim’s side when the summer transfer window rolls around and was among the top 20 Golden Boy award nominees for 2024.

However, last year’s award, handed to the most impressive young male footballer under the age of 21 in Europe - which was eventually won by Spanish starlet Lamine Yamal - not only featured the young Yildiz on its shortlist but also three other Red Devils first-team stars in Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and new centre-back signing, Frenchman Leny Yoro.

According to Sky Germany, Yildiz was of interest to United in the January window, but instead of snapping him up, they sat back and monitored him closely.

Recent reports suggest that an approach could be made for the attacking midfield talent this summer as the club looks to give struggling boss Amorim some playmaking talent - and one more of European football's most highly-touted starlets.

Under-pressure Juventus manager Thiago Motta has been complimentary of the youngster in the past and outlined his main strength in a post-match interview with Calciomercato last year.

“I see Yildiz very suitable to open up the field in situations,” said Motta. “He adds quality. He has the freedom to conclude the action with the final pass or shot.”

For such a young player, Yildiz has started 22 Serie A matches this campaign, playing in a variety of roles, including on either wing and behind the striker as a No 10. He also featured regularly in the Champions League and has notched six goals in all competitions so far, adding four assists.

Another prodigy who has seen his name linked with an Old Trafford move in recent windows is Dutch talent Xavi Simons. The PSG-owned RB Leipzig loanee was a Golden Boy nominee himself in 2023, and according to the Mail, the Red Devils were close to securing his signature last summer.

Now, CaughtOffside reports that such interest in the £50million-rated star could potentially be reignited come this summer, as it appears clear that a dynamic attacking midfield player is on United’s agenda.
