As the offseason continues, the New York Jets still need to address a host of roster needs, mostly on offense.
Most will come via the draft, and both sides of the ball are in play for New York at No. 7. Given the lack of weapons for Justin Fields, the consensus is that the Jets will take an offensive player in the first round.
Tight end Tyler Warren and receivers Tetairoa McMillan, Emeka Egbuka, and Matthew Golden have all seen their names thrown up as potential candidates.
With mock drafts now flying around, most have the Jets taking one of the above players, but NFL.com's Mike Band throws a stick of dynamite in the water in his latest mock.
The Jets trade up from No. 7 to No. 5 in a pick swap with the Jacksonville Jaguars and select Colorado Buffalo, Travis Hunter.
"In his first draft as a primary decision-maker, new Jets GM Darren Mougey channels the aggressive strategy modeled for him by former boss George Paton, trading up to leapfrog the Raiders for Hunter," Band writes. "The Jets need help opposite Garrett Wilson at receiver and Sauce Gardner at cornerback, making New York an ideal spot for Hunter to showcase his rare two-way talent. It would be fitting for former Jets corner/current head coach Aaron Glenn to select a ball-hawking playmaker with his first pick on the job."

Whew. That's a big move.
With Hunter and his two-way play making him an interesting option, tight end Travis Kelce recently stated that Hunter might have to pick a side and then moonlight in packages on the other side of the ball.
A star receiver and corner, Hunter will offer a unique skill set for whichever team drafts him and if it is the Jets, then Fields will be in business having Travis and Garrett Wilson either side of him.

Coming off a 2024 season that saw him totaling 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns as a receiver and four interceptions as a defender, Hunter looms as the ultimate wildcard.
And in this hypothetical, it's the Jets who land a monster weapon to kickstart the New York rebuild with an almighty bang.
