Exclusive: Clubs looking at Hwang Hee-chan could mean 'game-changer' stays at Wolves

Hwang Hee-chan is fielding interest ahead of the summer transfer window but should he depart, one other attacker could stay at Wolves.

The summer transfer window will be in the back of Vitor Pereira’s mind, even with a job still do in the Premier League.

Wolves are nine points above the bottom three after claiming victory over Southampton last weekend but rumours of some players leaving are already beginning to circulate.

Nottingham Forest could launch a club-record bid to sign Matheus Cunha, who boats a £62.5 million release clause, while Rayan Ait-Nouri is wanted by Tottenham and West Ham.

It promises to be a busy summer of departures, regardless of whether Wolves preserve their top-flight status, with an update now being shared on two forwards.

Hwang Hee-chan could leave Wolves in 2025

Cunha will almost certainly exit Molineux this summer and then it’s a question of which other attackers could follow him out of the door.

Fabio Silva will leave Wolves, despite the striker flourishing on loan at Las Palmas, while Hwang Hee-chan is another who could be on the chopping block.

West Ham were linked with Hwang in January but the Old Gold were unwilling to sell the South Korean midway through the season.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Their stance on the 29-year-old could have now changed, though, as injuries and form have turned his campaign into a disastrous one.

TBR Football’s Head of Football Graeme Bailey spoke exclusively to Molineux News about Hwang’s future and he explained why he could leave this summer.

“Hwang is a very good player but I am told there is interest in him, he could leave – but with Matheus Cunha on his way, it might not be too easy – but I believe he could leave,” Bailey said.

A strong case can be made to sell the forward, who has only netted two Premier League goals this term, with a decision set to be made on Goncalo Guedes.

Goncalo Guedes could stay at Wolves

It seems unlikely that Wolves sell each of Hwang, Cunha and Guedes in the transfer window, which suggests the Portuguese forward could stay at Molineux.

That is according to Bailey, who offered an update on the 28-year-old: “Guedes is a very strong squad player, he may have only started a handful of games but he is plays a strong role – I don’t see it as a given that he does not stay.”

Pereira suggested Guedes was a ‘game-changer’ in February and the manager is clearly a big fan of the countryman.

So, with Cunha destined to depart, it appears Wolves will keep one of Hwang or Guedes. At this stage, the latter could remain at Molineux, as per Bailey’s comments, but anything could happen this summer.
