Per Telefoot, he said: 'A new contract to be signed at Real Madrid? No hurry. The season is still long, we have many more games. Then we will see'. My dream is clear, to retire at Real Madrid'.

'Yes, I'd like to retire at Real Madrid, it would be a dream for me'.

This season, he is looking to add to his long list of Champions League titles, having helped Real past their city rivals Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.

Next up for Carlo Ancelotti's side is an intriguing quarter-final against Arsenal - with the two legs to be staged over the first two weeks of April.

Domestically, Real face a battle to win La Liga with only four points separating themselves, Atletico and Barcelona in what is shaping up to be an intriguing title race.

It comes after the Croatian light-heartedly told Kylian Mbappe what he thought after he seemingly attempted to win a penalty during France's Nations League clash with Croatia on Thursday.

Croatia were already 2-0 up through Ante Budimer and Ivan Perisic when the incident occurred in the 87th minute of the quarter-final at the Pojlud Stadium in Split.

Mbappe raced into the box and was bearing down on goal when his Los Blancos partner got a foot in to put the ball behind for a corner.

It was a clean challenge from Modric, who made very little physical contact with Mbappe, if any.

The France striker still flew to the ground, however, and the Croatia captain made his feelings known while seeing the funny side.
