NASA’s Ever-Changing Artemis Crew Tagline

— “Woman on the Moon” Source at NASA

NASAWatch

Keith’s note: there has been a swarm of stories of late about NASA abandoning the whole “first woman and first person of color” tag line that the Biden Administration used with regard to Artemis lunar missions – which evolved further to “NASA will land the first woman, first person of color, and first international partner astronaut on the Moon”. That tagline evolved out of the Trump 1.0 Administration’s original“first woman”preface as to who’d be landing on the Moon. Now that’s all gone as part of the DEI purge and shunning of international partners that has been inflicted upon all of the Federal Government by Trump 2.0.

I saw this coming. A lot of us did. On 23 January 2025 I posted “NASA’s First Woman, First Person Of Color” Artemis Tagline: “Let’s see how the Diversity purge affects this popular opening line for NASA Artemis postings.” BTW while the graphic NASA used to symbolize the Biden Administration’s stance on Artemis crews has been taken down, like everything else, it can be found on the Internet Archive here.

Important note: on both of NASA Administrator nominee Jared Isaacman’s space missions, his 4 person crews were 50% female. One mission had a person of color who piloted the ship. Isaacman has conducted two wholly self-financed flights – both purposefully diverse – and they generated $244 million in donations to St. Jude where no patient ever gets a bill.

Be known by what you do – not what you say you will do.
