Bob Blackman, member of the U.K. House of Commons
In a powerful statement issued on March 21, 2025, British MP Bob Blackman, President of the International Committee of Parliamentarians for a Democratic Iran (ICPDI), condemned what he described as a dangerous policy of appeasement toward the Iranian regime. Blackman denounced recent defamatory attacks against Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), as politically motivated fabrications tied to hostage release negotiations.
Citing examples like the slander published in Le Canard Enchaîné and past prisoner swaps involving Iranian terrorists, Blackman warned that targeting the Iranian opposition only emboldens the regime’s 46-year-long strategy of hostage diplomacy and repression. Reaffirming his support for Rajavi and the NCRI, he called on Western governments to reject concessions to a regime that, in his words, “thrives on blackmail and lies.”
