‘One to watch’ - Fabrizio Romano provides Rasmus Hojlund transfer update, Man Utd could see an opportunity in the market

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is attracting interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Although it has been a difficult season for Rasmus Hojlund in front of goal, the Denmark international appears to be hitting better form as Manchester United approach the business end of the season.

A total of 12 United players are away on international duty, but they will all return knowing that the ultimate objective for the rest of the season is to win the Europa League as it’s the only way the team can qualify for the Champions League.

Ruben Amorim has been given the difficult task of turning United’s fortunes around but the Reds are sitting 13th in the Premier League table. Sadly, the gap is too big for United to catch up with the race for a top four finish.

Rasmus Hojlund has suitors in the transfer market

Hojlund is slowly but surely settling back into form after scoring two goals in as many games for club and country, taking his goal contribution tally to three in the last three matches.

His goal in United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City saw an end to a long goal drought.

The Denmark international will want to put that drought behind him by continuing his goalscoring run and it couldn’t come at a better time for Amorim.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, clubs from across Europe have started to contract United over deals involving Hojlund.

Romano said the following on his YouTube channel: “Manchester United are really planning to bring in an important striker in the summer transfer window, so I’m told that clubs are starting to reach out with Manchester United [and] people close to Rasmus Hojlund to understand his availability for the summer [and] how much it could cost.”

The Italian reporter added that United may well choose to move on Hojlund this summer if the right offer is made.

“Let’s see what happens with Hojlund, because there clubs are really interested, and in terms of money, in case they receive a good proposal for Man United could see an opportunity.

“So Hojlund is going to be one to watch in the summer transfer window, with interest from several countries including Italy, where he did very well as an Atlanta player before joining Manchester United.”

How long did Hojlund’s goal drought last?

Hojlund’s recent goal drought last 21-matchs before he found the back of the net against Leicester City.

The Dane has since gone on to score the winner in Denmark’s UEFA Nations League quarter-final first-leg tie against a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Portugal side.

However, he needs to start scoring goals consistently.

Hojlund is next in action on Sunday night when Portugal host Denmark in the second leg.
