Jude Bellingham is the most-capped England player aged 21 or under in history.
The Birmingham City icon, who came through the ranks at St Andrew’s before sealing transfers to Borussia Dortmund and current club Real Madrid, made his 41st appearance for the Three Lions on Friday night.
Bellingham started and finished England’s 2-0 win over Albania in Thomas Tuchel’s first game in charge and created the opening goal for debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly with a sublime turn and defence-splitting pass.
No player has made so many appearances for the England senior side before their 22nd birthday putting Bellingham on track to break all manner of records.
Goalkeeper Peter Shilton holds the record for England caps with 125, while Wayne Rooney is the most-capped outfield player with 120 appearances.
Stourbridge-born Bellingham made his England debut in November 2020 against the Republic of Ireland, four months on from his final game for boyhood club Blues.
Since leaving Blues Bellingham has become a household name in world football and won the Champions League in his first season with Real Madrid. Bellingham placed third at last year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
