Man Utd 'already have Marcus Rashford transfer agreement' if Aston Villa snub £40m deal

Manchester United will attempt to sell Marcus Rashford in the summer transfer window if Aston Villa opt against triggering their £40million buy option, according to reports. Ruben Amorim isn't thought to be factoring Rashford into his plans at Old Trafford, which will likely spell the end of his career at his boyhood club later this year.

The pair shared a rocky relationship after Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag as United's head coach in November. Rashford's absence from the Manchester derby victory in December was the first of a 12-match run out of the team before Aston Villa offered him an escape route in the January transfer window. Amorim's public stance painted that the ball was in the 27-year-old forward's side of the court, indicating he wanted to see improved attitude and application.

The Portuguese tactician went as far as to say he would rather select his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, over any player not willing to buy into his vision.

According to the Daily Star, Amorim's beliefs unsurprisingly haven't changed despite Rashford's bright start to life at Villa Park.

United chiefs will reportedly move to permanently offload Rashford elsewhere this summer if Unai Emery doesn't sanction a £40m deal.

It's claimed that the Red Devils hope to drum up enough interest that they raise around £60m for the homegrown star.

The report states that Amorim wasn't happy with Rashford's attitude after his arrival, while the desire to part ways was mutual.

After scoring 138 goals in 426 appearances across the last decade, the United No. 10 has decided he wants a fresh challenge away from the relentless spotlight at Old Trafford.

He is playing with a smile on his face again at Villa, failing to score in his first nine games for the club but registering four assists.

England manager Thomas Tuchel named Rashford in his first squad and handed him a start in Friday's 2-0 win against Albania at the start of 2026 World Cup qualifying.

Regardless of Rashford's exploits in the Midlands, United want to cash in and use the funds to back Amorim with a proven goalscorer to ease the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund.

The M16 giants have sorely lacked goals throughout another miserable season, with Hojlund only managing three in the Premier League.

A new striker is a priority, with Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Liam Delap and Hugo Ekitike among those linked.

United's transfer prospects are set to depend on whether they lift the Europa League on May 21, which would earn Champions League qualification.
