Eagles’ New Special Teams Star Reveals 2025 Goal

Avery Williams wasn't on the Philadelphia Eagles roster last season, but he saw an opening right away that he felt he could fill once the season came to a close for the defending champs.

Philadelphia's special teams took a hit last season when Britain Covey - the team's usual punt-returner - suffered multiple injuries that kept him out for most of the year.

In his place, the Eagles turned to second round rookie Cooper DeJean. The Iowa product was fine as a replacement, but with his dominance on defense in the nickel, the Eagles were always going to look to keep him off return duties.

That's where Williams is expected to come in.

And it's why he feels he can be part of another Super Bowl roster heading into 2025 as well.

"I'm excited," Williams said. "Obviously, the fact that the Eagles just went to the Super Bowl is impressive. But I still have that hunger to add to that. I wasn't a part of this team last year, so my goal is still to win a Super Bowl. And the guys that are already here, they won a Super Bowl, and their goal is to win a Super Bowl as well. So, I'm extremely motivated and extremely excited and grateful to be here and call myself Eagle now."

Williams has been one of the more consistent returners in the league in recent years. Formerly of the Atlanta Falcons, the Boise State product is hoping for a fair shot with the Birds.

And if the Eagles can get Williams to produce close to what Covey did when he was healthy, the team will be even better than last year.
