Real Madrid have one Chelsea star on their radar ahead of summer window. But, they have now received a blow in the pursuit as their arch-rivals have joined the race.
The star in question here is Enzo Fernandez for whom Chelsea splashed £107 million in January 2023. The Argentine has been decent so far in his time at West London. This season, he is playing a major role for Enzo Maresca as both holding and central midfielder.
Fernandez has played 35 games this season and has registered 5 goals along with 9 assists. This performances have caught eyes of Real Madrid. Los Blancos are planning for a midfield overhaul this summer with some of their key players linked with exit.
Madrid view Fernandez as replacement for Toni Kross. The German retired last summer and this time his partner Luka Modric may depart. In addition, the Spanish giants are not fully convinced by Aurelien Tchouameni. Lastly, Eduardo Camavinga too is attracting interest from City boss Pep Guardiola.
Real Madrid joined by their city-rivals in the race for Enzo Fernandez
According to El Desmarque, Enzo Fernandez is subject of interest for Atletico Madrid. Diego Simeone has been impressed with his compatriot and wants to sign him this summer. Atletico Madrid already have a plan to convince Fernandez to join them.
Atletico have given task to their Argentine players to try and convince Fernandez to join them. As of now, the Chelsea star will play alongside Julian Alvarez, Nahuel Molina, Rodrigo De Paul, Giuliano Simeone and Angel Correa.
Chelsea will hope to keep Fernandez with them for a long time. But, they may feel powerless if the player pushes for a move. Despite this happening, they still have plenty of positives due to their smart business. They have tied Fernandez with a contract running until 2032. Hence, they can demand a hefty amount of money. As of now, it is said that the Argentine will surely cost more than €80 million.
