Wolves face a battle to keep hold of star striker Matheus Cunha as summer speculation intensifies
Premier League high-flyers Nottingham Forest are reportedly planning to test Wolves’ resolve this summer with a club-record offer for talented forward Matheus Cunha.
The Tricky Trees, who are managed by former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, are on the verge of securing Champions League qualification for the first time since 1981after a remarkable campaign which has exceeded the expectations of even the most optimistic Forest supporters.

As it stands, the Reds are in third position, six clear of champions Manchester City in fifth and only four points away from Arsenal in second position. They are also through to the quarter-final of the FA Cup and have a chance of winning silverware for the first time since their League Cup triumph in 1990.
They are almost certain to secure some form of European football this term, barring a remarkable dip in form and are keen to ensure that this success on the pitch is maintained next season with further investment in the transfer market.
Nottingham Forest target Wolves fan favourite
TBR Footballunderstands that Nottingham Forest are readying a blockbuster offer for Matheus Cunha this summer. Cunha has been in sensational form for an underwhelming Wolves team this season, finding the net on 15 occasions and registering four assists in 29 matches across all competitions to give the team a huge chance of beating the drop ahead of Ipswich Town and Leicester City, who are nine points adrift and Southampton, who look destined for bottom spot with just nine points all season.
The 11-time Brazil international is a game-changer with great technical ability, versatility to play in all forward areas and exceptional goalscoring qualities. Forest view him as the perfect partner for Chris Wood and someone that gives the team further qualities in Europe if they do qualify.

What does the future hold for Matheus Cunha?
Matheus Cunha ended rampant speculation surrounding a mid-season departure from Molinuex by signing a new contract in January in a blow to Forest, Manchester United and Arsenal who had all show interest. The deal was seen as a statement of intent in the relegation battle and has acted as a catalyst for pushing Wolves towards survival.
However, TBR football explains that the general feeling around Molineux is that Cunha will be allowed to leave if the price is right. His existing contract currently has a release clause inserted of around £60m which is thought to be the amount Forest are willing to pay to get the deal over the line.
A deal around that figure would see Forest break the club record they set last summer when they paid around £35million for Elliot Anderson.
Elsewhere, Carabao Cup winner Newcastle United, Arsenal and the Red Devils are also keeping tabs on the situation. Cunha does have interest from the Saudi Pro League – but it is suspected his preference is to remain in Europe at this point as he aims to make the Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup.
