Route to the UCL last-four will not be easy for Arsenal as they’ll take on Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.
Arsenal are having an impressive UCL run this campaign
Arsenal move to the Champions League last-eight for the second season in a row. They beat PSV Eindhoven 9-3 on aggregate in the round of sixteen.
They will also meet Real Madrid in the quarter-finals following a much tighter round of 16 tie in Spain. Carlo Ancelotti’s team conceded in the first minute when Conor Gallagher equalized.
Vinicius Junior also missed a penalty when the score was still 1-0 second-half. Although, they still won as they did in the 2016 final.
Few Arteta’s players set to miss first-leg against Real
A report by Mundo Deportivo gives an update on Arsenal’s injury situation. Even though the Gunners will not even play Real Madrid until next month.
According to the report, the north London side will be without key attacking players. Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to be out for the rest of the season with injuries. Havertz could be a major loss for sure. As the German is currently the club’s leading goal scorer this season with 15 goals. While Gabriel has also scored seven goals this season.
Additionally, Bukayo Saka has been out since December. Although he’s said to be fit and should return to action in for April. The Gunners will try to make the Englishman be available for the tie against the Los Blancos.
Takehiro Tomiyasu will also miss the fixture as he is dealing with a knee injury. They will also be without Raheem Sterling. As he was fined after receiving a yellow card at the last minute against PSV Eindhoven.
On the other hand, Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Martinelli are both on two yellow cards. And they could be suspended from the next leg. They need to be careful about not to receive a yellow card in the first leg against the current European champions.
