Mikel Arteta's dream Arsenal midfield after£60m Bruno Guimaraes transfer and one more capture

Mikel Arteta may not have yet won Arsenal the Premier League title they have fought so proudly for in recent years, though that needn't be his managerial legacy if the club get the summer transfer window right.

Past battles with Manchester City didn't go their way and it is going to take a gargantuan turn to beat Liverpool come May.

As long as it isn't over, belief will exist, then at least as something to fall back on there are already plenty of exciting reports and rumours surrounding what this club are going to do once the next transfer window opens.

Arsenal's midfield is set to be one area keenly addressed, as outgoings will necessitate incomings. In that regard there are likely to be two spaces in the engine room.

Jorginho, running out of contract on June 30, has flown to Brazil over the international break. With rumours the 33-year-old is signing a pre-agreement to join Flamengo, it doesn't seem like his trip would solely be for the purposes of a holiday.

Having played 12 of 29 Premier League matches all term, ultimately it makes sense why he would seek a different challenge.

Then there is Thomas Partey, the 31-year-old also out of contract this summer, with Arteta's squad currently on course to lose a second experienced midfield member.

This would surely require a revolution.

The manager would stand to keep three existing options - Declan Rice, who most often operates the advanced role on the left of a midfield three but is also capable defensively, captain Martin Odegaard as the advanced right-sided man and Mikel Merino, who would have battled for his place in the centre before more recently being used as a makeshift striker.

As another position that requires attention, the hope would be that the Spaniard is freed up to play where his is most comfortable.

But lacking numbers and defensive midfield cover especially, Arteta can't go without new players. They have to be of the highest quality too if his team are to become champions of England.

Martin Zubimendi is believed to be a priority target and at the cost of his £51.3m release clause from Real Sociedad, helps to solve both problems.

But one signing would not be enough and Bruno Guimaraes is the blueprint definition of a box-to-box midfielder.

Not only that, he possesses the knowledge of English football required for an easy bedding in period and now has the experience of winning silverware as he lifted the Carabao Cup with Newcastle United last week.

One recent report claimed there is an understanding between current club and player that he will be allowed to leave for £60m if they do not qualify for next season's Champions League - a circumstance the Gunners would be foolish to pass up on, as they waited patiently when the 27-year-old was available for £100m 12 months prior.

Signing both takes the strength of the midfield up to five members, all aged between 26 and 28 so therefore in their supposed 'prime' years as a professional. Arteta also has younger players such as Myles Lewis-Skelly that can help centrally, but they shouldn't need to.

Five solid midfielders of that age profile should be the starting point to avoid injuries as Arteta will not have a strongest trio he relies upon the most, but a five-strong dream midfield rotated on a tactical basis with management of fitness in mind.
