Latest NFL Mock Draft Has Quinn Ewers in Line to Replace $100 Million QB

The NFL draft is about a month away, so the NFL mock draft season is in full swing.

As they are every year, the quarterbacks have been the focal point of much of the discussions leading up to the draft. With a league starving for quarterbacks, this year's class is viewed as one of the weakest in recent history, with many saying that the presumed QB1, Cam Ward, would have been no better than QB5 last year.

Although this is bad news for a team searching for a franchise quarterback, this bodes quite well for a player like Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, who can surge higher in the draft due to the talent scarcity at this position. In NFL insider Chad Reuter's latest mock draft, he had Ewers slated to go in the second round at pick No. 50 to the Seattle Seahawks.

The selection comes after the Seahawks traded two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Geno Smith to the Raiders and inked a deal with free agent Sam Darnold worth over $100 million. In a perfect world for Ewers, he can sit behind and learn from Darnold for a couple of years before eventually taking over.

In his three seasons at Texas, Ewers led the Longhorns to a Big 12 title victory, SEC Championship appearance, the four-team College Football Playoff and two wins in the 12-team College Football Playoff this season. He was once viewed as a first-round pick, but multiple injuries this season took the wind out of those sails.
