It’s going to be fascinating to see what Newcastle United do this summer.
Indeed, Newcastle United have lifted a 70-year weight off their shoulders by winning a major domestic trophy following their Carabao Cup success.
Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has vowed that Newcastle will challenge for more trophies too, sending a statement of intent immediately after the 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Wembley.
After a frustrating period on the transfer front, things could be changing there too. Newcastle insiders believe they can spend this summer, having kept their powder dry all while selling players of late.
To that end, a new right winger could be targeted. Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has long been linked with a move to St James’ Park.
Previous reports have suggested Mbeumo is Newcastle’s dream signing and there has now been a fresh development.

Newcastle leading transfer chase to sign Bryan Mbeumo
According to Caught Offside, Newcastle are showing the strongest interest in the Cameroon international.
Both Manchester United and Arsenal are said to be keen too, but the outlet’s sources suggest Newcastle are willing to meet Mbeumo’s £50million valuation.

Despite interest from Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium, it remains to be seen if either of those clubs would be willing to go up to that kind of price tag.
Liverpool and Tottenham are also credited with an interest, making the race to sign the 25-year-old incredibly fierce.
Newcastle have already failed in one Bryan Mbeumo transfer attempt
Newcastle tried to sign Mbeumo in January, only to have been snubbed by Brentford. It was then reported that the Magpies are expected to revisit their interest this summer.
That would certainly make sense. The Cameroon star has scored 15 Premier League goals this season while recording five assists. Only Chris Wood, Alexander Isak, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more times in the League during this campaign.
The idea of him forming what would surely be a formidable frontline alongside Isak and Anthony Gordon is hugely exciting.
