Move over Casemiro: Man Utd should now sign 24yo "all-action" star for £42m, Jason Wilcox knows …

Manchester United have had a tough Premier League campaign. They have accumulated just 37 points after 29 games played.

The Red Devils have been disappointing in the final third, with just 37 goals scored. A marquee forward could be signed over the summer.

Manager Ruben Amorim may also want reinforcements elsewhere. A defensive midfielder could be pursued if Casemiro heads for the exit door.

The Brazilian was on the radar of Roma last winter, but he turned them down. He prefers a move to the Saudi Pro League this year.

Casemiro will enter the last year of his contract in July, and United could be tempted to cut their losses on him if a decent offer arrives.

In our view, the club should replace him with Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha, who has been described as an ‘all-action’ midfielder by Bundesliga.com.

The Manchester City graduate has been brilliant for Dortmund since his move from Wolfsburg in 2023.

He has a passing accuracy of 88 percent this term. He has won 60 percent of his duels with 3.8 recoveries and 1.4 tackles per outing.

The 24-year-old has been sidelined for the last seven weeks with a knee ligament injury but has returned to light training recently.

United technical director Jason Wilcox knows him well from his time as City’s academy chief. He could play a key part in recruiting him.

If Nmecha returns to full fitness in the near future, we won’t be surprised if United swoop for his services. The club’s interest has been confirmed.

Dortmund could be forced to sell Nmecha for £42m if they miss out on the Champions League next term.

That is likely to happen. The club are languishing 11th in the Bundesliga, 10 points behind fourth-placed Eintracht Frankfurt with just eight games left.
