The Golden State Warriors have signed forward Kevin Knox to a deal for the remainder of the NBA season. Knox joined Golden State previously and looked good in his time with the team.
ESPN NBA insider Shams Charnaia reported the news on social media.
Knox has played in seven games for the Warriors this season, averaging 4.0 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game. While Knox isn't expected to be a crucial role player for Golden State, he can still provide them with decent depth and scoring off the bench.
If anything, this move allows the Warriors to have some security on the bench for the postseason. Knox has been in the league for a few years and has played well with the team so far.
Knox was originally selected by the New York Knicks with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Coming out of Kentucky, there was a lot of hype around his game entering the league.

But the forward hasn't been able to live up to the expectations that were placed on him. Inconsistent performances have factored into this, as well as the pressure of playing in New York.
After three and a half seasons with the Knicks, New York traded Knox to the Atlanta Hawks for Cam Reddish and others. Knox was only with the Hawks for the end of the 2022 season before he entered free agency.

The former Kentucky product then signed with the Detroit Pistons but didn't last long in Detroit. The Pistons traded him to the Portland Trail Blazers but once again, things didn't pan out.
Knox eventually re-signed with the Pistons in Nov. 2023 but was traded at the dealing to the Utah Jazz. Utah then waived the veteran the day after acquiring him from Detroit.
Many believed that Knox's NBA career would be over but he latched on with the Warriors Summer League Team. After a strong showing, Golden State signed him and assigned him to the G League.
Knox averaged 21.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 28 games for the Warriors G League squad before landing a 10-day with Golden State. Now, he will be with the Warriors for the remainder of the year and will try to show what he can do.
