Napoli make Man Utd man 'priority' target as star would 'welcome' move - it's not Hojlund or Garnacho

A Manchester United forward is reportedly attracting attention from Serie A side Napoli

Another Manchester United player has been linked with a move to Serie A side Napoli with Antonio Conte reportedly making a current Red Devils star his ‘priority’ attacking target this summer.

Napoli are poised to lose Victor Osimhen at the end of the season, with the Nigerian international linked with a host of clubs across Europe - including United. In January, the Italian outfit were keen on a move for Alejandro Garnacho but the clubs could not come to an agreement on a transfer fee as the Red Devils’ valuation was not met.

This week Hojlund has been linked with a move to the club, while Juventus are also said to be keen in the Danish striker, along with three clubs in the Bundesliga. The forward has returned to form recently with a goal against Leicester City before the international break while he also scored the winner as Denmark beat Portugal on Thursday night.

Joshua Zirkzee ‘eyed’ by Napoli as ‘priority’ target

According to Fichajes, Joshua Zirzkee has been identified as a priority target for Napoli by Conte for this summer. The forward has had an inconsistent start to his United career but in recent weeks has shown glimpses of potential. He scored the winning goal in the opening game of the season against Fulham at Old Trafford but was also booed off the pitch just half an hour into a defeat against Newcastle United at the end of December.

Conte is said to want Zirkzee due to his previous experience in Serie A with Bologna. He arrived at Old Trafford from the Italian club last summer for around £34m. The report from Fichajes adds that the player himself would welcome the chance to join Napoli and make his return to Italy. However, there are yet to be any major talks between the two clubs and United’s position on the matter is likely to have the biggest say on whether a move will happen.

Amorim addressed Zirzkee future in January

Amorim was asked about Zirkzee’s future and said in early January and said: “I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he’s trying in training but we don’t know. The window is open and we will see what happens. We just need to focus on training and to take this for the other games. It’s just one point so let’s focus on the performance for the next games."

In February, Amorim expressed how he felt the forward was showing real signs of progress. He said: “He’s stronger physically, he’s thinner, he’s working really hard, and he plays in a better position for him. He’s improving, he’s winning more duels and he’s even faster, you feel that in the game, and that helps to make the decision.”
