Forget Geovany: United have now approached club to sign 17-year-old striker with 8 G/A

Manchester United have contacted Olympiacos over the potential transfer of Greek wonderkid Charalampos Kostoulas this summer, according to journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos.

The Red Devils have focused on bolstering their academy with emerging foreign talents, and they have signed the likes of Sekou Kone, Chido Obi and Harry Amass over the past few years.

The club are likely to continue the trend, and Chorianopoulos has revealed (via Sportime) that United have ‘contacted’ Olympiacos for 17-year-old Kostoulas after monitoring his performances.

However, the Piraeus-based outfit have clarified that Kostoulas won’t be sold this summer. The club also plan to keep 18-year-old Christos Mouzakitis in their first-team squad next season.

United should continue monitoring Kostoulas

The teenager has had a good breakthrough season in Greek football. He has registered six goals and two assists from 33 appearances in all competitions for Olympiacos.

Kostoulas was a centre-forward during his academy years but has primarily played as an attacking midfielder this term. His versatility may have caught United’s radar.

Aside from his goal contributions, the 17-year-old has been brilliant with his work rate and defensive involvements. He has won a stunning 7.3 ground and aerial duels per game.

The Greek wonderkid has also impressed with his dribbling, ball recoveries and tackling skills.

Kostoulas, who turns 18 in May, already has a Transfermarkt value of £7 million. His stock is expected to rise further.

The Red Devils should continue to monitor his progress if Olympiacos resist the prospect of selling him this summer.

The club recently missed out on a huge talent in Geovany Quenda. The Sporting CP teenager is on his way to Chelsea.

They must be proactive to avoid losing Kostoulas to a rival Premier League or European club in future.
