The Memphis Grizzlies have lost each of their last three games and have fallen to the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference. Additionally, they are 2.5 games ahead of the No. 8 seed Minnesota Timberwolves. After it seemed like homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs was likely, there is now a legitimate chance the Grizzlies end the season as a Play-In team.
Their next opportunity to turn things around and get back in the win column will be on Tuesday against the Utah Jazz. However, a few days before the game, the Grizzlies made an unfortunate announcement regarding one of their players.
Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke suffered a knee injury just five minutes into the team's loss against the Portland Trail Blazers last Wednesday. He missed the rest of the game and the team's loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. According to the team, Clarke suffered a high-grade PCL strain and will miss the rest of the season.

In his sixth season with the Grizzlies, Clarke was in the midst of a solid year. Through 64 games (including 18 starts), the 28-year-old averaged 8.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 1 assist. Additionally, he shot 62.1% from the field.
As the Grizzlies look to get back on track and gain momentum heading into the start of the postseason, they need to string together as many victories as they can. Unfortunately for them, they will be without one of their key contributors for the rest of the season.
