Steve Kerr Shares Stephen Curry Injury Update Ahead of Warriors’ Road Trip

Stephen Curry did not depart with the Golden State Warriors for their six-game road trip, but there's optimism that he'll be able to rejoin the team soon.

Curry suffered a pelvic contusion during the Warriors' 117-114 win against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday. He drove into the lane and delivered a pass out to the perimeter before taking a hard spill to the court. Curry headed to the locker room after the fall and did not return.

Curry will remain in San Francisco to receive treatment for his injury, but head coach Steve Kerr offered some optimism about the two-time MVP's availability for the season's final stretch.

"Steve Kerr said he is hopeful that Steph Curry will rejoin the Warriors at some point on this road trip. He will be re-evaluated on Monday," ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk wrote on X. "Warriors play at Miami on Tuesday, at New Orleans on Friday, San Antonio next Sunday, Memphis following Tuesday and at Lakers on Thursday."

Curry is averaging 24.2 points, 6.0 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game this season. Following a March 17 loss to the Denver Nuggets, Kerr noted that Curry was mentally exhausted and gave him the night off in the second game of a back-to-back.

"The last three games I think he's been tired, but it's more of a mental and emotional fatigue than physical," Kerr said on March 18. "He's fine physically. When he's emotionally tired, it affects his decision-making. He's a little bit out of sorts."

If Kerr's assessment of the situation is correct, Curry's injury could be a blessing in disguise. He'll get some time off as he gears up for a return.

The Warriors are 41-29 entering Saturday's matchup with the Atlanta Hawks - good for the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. Golden State is trying to hold off the Los Angeles Clippers and Minnesota Timberwolves, who are just a game back in the standings.
