CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville track & field team completed the final day of the 49ers Classic on Saturday (March 22). DaMarr Harvey highlighted the day by locking down the men's 200m, winning in a time of 20.88, just .17 off his school record set at the 2024 Big South Outdoor Championships.
In the same event, Christopher Owens secured a personal best of 22.60 to place 33rd overall.
Lauren Sochia earned a top 10 finish in the women's 3,000m, placing 9th in 11:16.04. Following Sochia was Alyx Beausoleil (15th, 11:45.59, PR) and Hannah Guyton (17th, 12:01.39).
In the men's section, Noah Jones led the charge to take 12th (9:18.79), closely followed by Sam Hulsey, who earned a heat win and 13th overall in 9:20.61, and Logan Russo (16th, 9:27.03).
Seven Bulldogs took on the 800m, with Jacoby Ennis leading for Asheville in the men's section to cross in 1:57.96 (22nd). Next was Preston Core in 32nd (2:00.64) and Andrew Okon in 36th (2:01.26, PR). On the women's side, Isabel Richardson took 12th place in 2:18.53, followed by Maddie Hamuka (33rd, 2:28.58), Payton Murphy with a heat win and 36th overall (2:28.94) and Ashley Keazer (48th, 2:33.90).
In the women's 200m, Francesca Cergol finished in 14th with 25.03, a personal best time, but wind-assisted (+2.5), so uncounted. Kamryn Peeples placed 39th with 26.57, Alexis Vaughan in 40th with 26.60, and Zoey Marrero rounded out for the Bulldogs in 51st with 27.61.
In the circle, Chad Lasher represented Asheville in the men's Shot Put, placing 21st with his throw of 13.60 meters. Lasher was joined by Noah Henthorn, who placed 34th at 11.82 meters. In the men's Discus throw, Lasher placed 20th with 39.30 meters.
Gabe Matthews earned the 12th spot in the men's Triple Jump with a distance of 13.84 meters.
Chaniya Owens earned a top 10 spot in the women's Triple Jump, taking seventh with her distance of 11.22 meters. Christina Jones placed 18th with 30.35 meters in the women's javelin.
Jaelyn Arnold finished in 20th with 11.68 meters in the women's Shot Put, joined by Madison Hannah in 28th with a personal best throw of 0.58 meters.
The men's 4x400 meter A team placed third overall with a time of 3:17.01. The B team came in 15th at 3:39.44. The Bulldog women's A team placed seventh with 4:07.10, and the B team placed 11th with 4:22.57.
