A Steelers Depot daily segment. A quick hit of some Pittsburgh Steelers-related stories that may not require a complete article but nuggets worth mentioning and passing on to you guys.

Your Depot After Dark for March 22.

STEELERS AMONG BEST LANDING SPOTS FOR YOUNG QB

The Steelers find themselves awaiting a decision from 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers and could also be eyeing a first-round pick at the position, like a Jaxson Dart or Tyler Shough. While all of that is going on, they could also be a good landing spot for a young quarterback in need of a change of scenery in the NFL.

That would be New England Patriots’ quarterback Joe Milton, who could be on the trade block after the Patriots added veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs this offseason as a backup to second-year pro Drake Maye.

Milton impressed in the Week 18 start last season for New England, completing 22-of-29 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown, adding a rushing touchdown in the game, too. Now, he could be a QB that teams take a chance on in the trade market.

For CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan, the Steelers could be that landing spot for Milton.

“Let’s stick in the AFC North, shall we? The Pittsburgh Steelers are another team currently on the hunt for a QB and have primarily been circling Aaron Rodgers. But what if Rodgers decides to go in a different direction? In theory, they could go back to Russell Wilson, who started 11 games for them last season. That said, Wilson could sign with another team at any given moment as well. That leaves them with not a ton of options, especially considering they pick at No. 21 overall at this year’s draft,” Sullivan writes regarding Milton and the Steelers. “Even if they added another veteran to the room, Milton could be a low-risk acquisition to come in and compete for the starting job over the summer. Given his ability to throw the football a country mile, he’d be fascinating to see with DK Metcalf and George Pickens at his disposal.”

Milton would be a low-risk addition, were the Steelers to be interested. He’s got great size, mobility and arm strength and is a quarterback that Mike Tomlin watched closely at the Senior Bowl two years ago.

NFL INSIDER PAIRS STEELERS WITH DL IN MOCK DRAFT

Though the Steelers skipped the Michigan Pro Day Friday due to the Aaron Rodgers meeting on the South Side, the interest in defensive lineman Kenneth Grant is real from Pittsburgh. The Steelers had a “very serious” meeting with Grant at the NFL Scouting Combine, and with a need along the defensive line he makes a great deal of sense.

For NFL Insider Tony Pauline, Grant is the smart pick at No. 21 overall for the Steelers. That’s the direction he went in for the Steelers in his latest mock draft.

“Grant is an athletic wide body on the defensive line who can two-gap if necessary,” Pauline writes of Grant in the mock to the Steelers.

He measured in at 6035, 331 at the Combine with 33 1/2-inch arms, and did 22 reps on the bench at 225 pounds. The size is quite good, and the tape is as well.

At his Pro Day, Grant ran a 5.11 40-yard dash, had a 31-inch vertical, an 8’9″ broad jump, and 27 bench reps on the bench. His Relative Athletic Score from Kent Lee Platte came in at 7.29, which isn’t all that great, but he remains a very good player on tape and could be a great fit for the Steelers.

PAST AND PRESENT STEELERS TAKE IN EUROPE

While coaches and front-office personnel were busy making additions to the roster in early and mid-March, a pair of current Steelers were off to Europe to take in the sights and sounds.

TE Pat Freiermuth was in Europe ahead of the Steelers’ trip to Croke Park for a game in the 2025 season. He was joined by Hall of Famer Rod Woodson.

Special teams captain Miles Killebrew headed to Germany, taking in a Borussia Dortmund game against Augsburg in the Bundesliga.
