Newcastle United continue to be linked with a number of transfers ahead of what's shaping up to be a hugely important summer transfer window.

The Magpies have already secured a return to European football in the Europa Conference League after winning the Carabao Cup, but will be eying a Champions League berth by finishing in the top-five.

Eddie Howe and his side will be hoping the recent trophy triumph acts as a catalyst between now and the end of the season, with one eye already on the summer window.

ChronicleLive has taken a look at the latest transfer news and speculation ahead of the summer window.

Malaga director breaks silence on Newcastle transfer target

Newcastle United continue to be linked with a move for highly rated Spanish prospect Antonio Cordero in the summer window, with fresh reports claiming Porto had matched the Magpies' approach.

Málaga director Kike Pérez, however, is hopeful of keeping the Spanish youth international at the club, and told PTV Málaga’s Zona Deporte, as relayed by Estadio Deportivo: "I have hope because, and I’ve always said this, I’m no longer saying this as someone who works at Málaga or as their general director.

"I’m saying this as someone who works in football. Things will happen, and in the end, we’ll see what happens.

“I see it as logical [to stay at Malaga]. I don’t think that whether you’re here or not, people give everything until the end. I’m not one to hold things against others. Whoever’s here, as long as they give everything they have, there’s nothing to say."

Forest plot ambitious record transfer bid

TalkSPORT claim Nottingham Forest are plotting an ambitious £62million move for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha if they qualify for the Champions League.

Newcastle United are among the clubs to have been linked with the Brazilian in recent months, who has shone for the struggling Premier League side this season. The report claims Forest, who are currently third in the Premier League table, made enquiries about Cunha in the January transfer window, but Wolves were adamant they would not sell their star man.

The Brazilian has a reported release clause of £62million inserted into his current deal, which would shatter Forest's current record transfer fee, the £35million signing of Elliot Anderson from Newcastle in the summer.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have all been credited with an interest in Cunha, who looks set to leave Molineux this summer.
