Josh Giddey has flirted with an amazing quadruple-double but settled for his fourth triple-double of the NBA season to help Chicago to a 146-115 road win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 22-year-old Melburnian had 15 points, 17 assists, 10 rebounds and eight steals as the Bulls won for the seventh time in nine games.

Luka Doncic led all scorers with 34 points, including eight three-pointers, Austin Reaves scored 25 and LeBron James 17 for LA on his return from a seven-game absence with a groin injury.

Coby White had 36 points and Matas Buzelis 31 as Chicago improved to 31-40, keeping them ninth in the Eastern Conference.

The Lakers (43-27) dropped to fourth in the West.

Giddey was playing just his second game in six having injured an ankle 11 days ago in the win over Indiana.

In Atlanta, fellow Australian Dyson Daniels helped the Hawks beat Golden State 124-115.

The 22-year-old nicknamed the "Great Barrier Thief" extended his season-best steals record to 197 with three more against the Warriors.

It's the most in a campaign since Chris Paul amassed 216 in 2008-09.

Daniels, New Orleans' eighth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, also chipped in with 12 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.

Teammate Trae Young had 25 points with 10 assists for his 41st double-double of the season while Georges Niang added 23 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three-point distance.

Atlanta (34-36) have won six of their last eight and hold a one-and-a-half game lead over Orlando in the race for the No.7 spot in the East.

Jimmy Butler led the Warriors (41-30) with 25 points and Moses Moody added 20 in the absence of Stephen Curry (pelvis).

Elsewhere on Saturday, Giannis Antetokounmpo registered 32 points, 17 rebounds and three assists in Milwaukee's 114-108 victory over hosts Sacramento.

Kyle Kuzma added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Bucks (40-30) while Brook Lopez scored 21 points and Kevin Porter Jr. 18.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 31 points and 11 rebounds, Mikal Bridges scored 27 points and the Knicks beat Washington 122-103 in New York to snap a two-game losing streak.

Pascal Siakam scored eight of his 26 points over the final three-and-a-half minutes and Myles Turner made five triples to finish with 22 points to help Indiana hold off Brooklyn 108-103.

Turner also had eight rebounds and three blocks while the Pacers' All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton returned from a back injury and recorded his 10th straight double-double with 16 points and 12 assists to go with eight rebounds.
