'We'll see' - Dean Huijsen drops summer transfer hint as Newcastle United and Liverpool watch on

Newcastle United could face a transfer battle this summer if they decide to firm up their interest in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen.

The [Magpies](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/newcastle-united-fc) are one of several Premier League clubs to hold an interest in the defender, who made his senior debut for Spain in Thursday night's 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in Rotterdam. Huijsen replaced Barcelona's Pau Cubarsí in the first half in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final first leg.

The defender has made a huge impact under Andoni Iraola since moving to Bournemouth from Juventus last summer, and has been on the [transfer radar of Newcastle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/all-about/newcastle-united-fc-transfer-news) and Liverpool. The 19-year-old has a £50m release clause - but has now been linked with a sensational move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

While United are looking for long-term options at the back, and Liverpool aim for a summer defensive rebuild, Madrid have been alerted by Huijsen's form amid talk of a summer move. The player himself is relaxed about his future, insisting he was concentrating on the finishing the season strongly for Bournemouth, despite links to Real.

"Would I like to play for Real Madrid? At the moment I'm not thinking about it," he told El Chiringuito. "I'm thinking about finishing the season well and then when the right time comes, we'll see.

"It's an honour that such an important team is interested in you. But we have to continue working and stay humble."

Huijsen has made 27 appearances for Bournemouth in his debut season in England, scoring twice as the Cherries launched a surprise challenge on the European places.
