David Moyes will be ready to make some changes to his Everton squad in the summer transfer window which could see the back of some mainstays at Goodison Park.

As the Toffees boss approached his first proper window at Everton, there are a number of Blues players who see their contracts expiring leaving some decisions to be made by Moyes.

There are also some interested parties putting their hats in the ring already in the hope of benefiting from the additions of those who could be set for exits on Merseyside.

Everton exit news emerges

With The Friedkin Group’s takeover of the club completed and financial burdens lifted, the Toffees will be looking ahead to the window with the hope of being able to add some more quality to their side.

Moyes will be under no illusions that Everton’s new era is a project though meaning he will also have to retain a core of his current squad and just add to what he already has.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

There’s a high list of out-of-contract players at Goodison this season meaning the boss will have to identify who says in the team. Idrissa Gana Gueye, for example, is set to have his contract extended.

Everton’s out of contract players at the end of the season.

However, neither Michael Keane or Abdoulaye Doucoure are set for the same fate and both look set to be free agents in the summer.

According to Darren Witcoop in the print edition of the Sunday Mirror (23 March, page 77), a number of Saudi Pro-League sides have got their eyes on both Keane and Doucoure ahead of the conclusion of the season.

Kenae is out of contract with the Blues and there have been no talks of extending his stay in Merseyside. Meanwhile, Doucoure also finds himself out of contract and the Toffees are not set to offer an extension on his deal.

A new deal could be proposed but given that would mean a decrease in wages for the 32-year-old, Saudi could be an attractive prospect.

Moyes recreating Everton

Although both Keane and Doucoure have shown plenty of commitment to Everton over their spells with the club, if Moyes wants to progress with his side next term, he has to be prepared to make big changes.

The Scotsman has already shown his ability to oversee progression in Merseyside having lifted his outfit from one point above relegation to 17 points safe.

Saudi could well be an attractive move for both players who are in the latter stages of their careers and may well welcome the final paycheck.

From an Everton perspective, it certainly seems sensible to let both players leave at the end of the campaign as it gives Moyes the space in his squad to continue pushing his side up the table.
