James Scanlon made his 11th cap for Gibraltar as they opened their World Cup qualification campaign against Montenegro.
The 18-year-old forward played 83 minutes from the start at the Stadion Kraj Bistrice, before being replaced by Liam Walker.
It started well for Scanlon and his team-mates as Dan Bent gave them a 13th-minute lead but Montenegro came from behind to win 3-1, with former Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic among the goals. Scott Wiseman’s side will hope to get their first points in Group L against the Czech Republic on Tuesday night.
Ahead of the break, James - who received a maiden first-team call-up for the Europa League quarter-final second-leg win over Real Sociedad - met with our Supporters’ Club in Gibraltar.
