Ipswich Town Women's interim captain Kyra Robertson says it will be a "really special" moment when she leads the team out at Portman Road today.

Robertson has taken the captain's armband in the absence of skipper Maria Boswell and vice-captain Charlotte Fleming.

And now she is set to lead the Tractor Girls out at Portman Road in front of thousands of fans for their clash against Plymouth Argyle (2pm).

She said: "It will be something really special for me.

"My mascot is going to be my younger sister so I know my family will be very proud.

"My family are big Town fans so to see me play on a pitch that they watch the men's team play on every week will be really nice.

"My mum says I first attended a game when I was two, and I was glued to the game.

"I'm gutted for Bos (Boswell) not to be able to contribute to the occasion but I'd like to think I can walk in her footsteps and be the leader that the team needs in the game."

Last season, Town Women played their first league match at Portman Road in front of over 10,000 fans, with manager Joe Sheehan describing the team as "trailblazers".

And Robertson said: "It's something I'm really proud of.

"Looking at my childhood, there wasn't as much support in the women's game and over the years that has built, especially at this club.

"We're treated exactly the same as everyone else at the training ground and to inspire a younger generation, it's really nice."

A crowd of around 12,000 is expected today, a big increase on the Blue Army who cheered the side on last year.

Robertson said: "We've sold a lot of tickets already which we're really happy about.

"I think last year sales really took off in the last week so we can expect the same.

"But I think the position we're in in the league, looking to capitalise on the opportunity of earning three points will be our main focus."
