US mother, grandmother forced child to wear dog's shock collar; arrested

A mother and grandmother were charged with child abuse and arrested in the US after a child reported that he was forced to wear a dead dog's shock collar, as per reports.

The incident first came to light on March 17 when the child arrived at school with “visible marks on his body” caused by the electric collar, police officials said.

The authorities revealed that the child had been put on a leash at all times at home ever since he had upset his mother, Kimberly Cruz-Feliciano, 30, according to reports.

A shock collar, or electronic collar, is used to send an electric shock to a dog's neck in a bid to stop it from displaying unwanted behaviour.

The victim told prosecutors that the electric collar, which “was kept in a bedroom”, belonged to their family's dead dog and his mother had warned him against telling anyone about it.

After a thorough probe, Kimberly was arrested after she was charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, tampering with witnesses with a threat of force, the Daily Voice reported.

Kimberly's mother, Sonia Feliciano, 59, was also charged with evidence tampering and subsequently, arrested.
