Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes continues to receive major praise but David De Gea has questioned one of his records.
The international break is here and Manchester United fans at least have reason to feel a little more optimistic.
United beat Real Sociedad to advance in the Europa League before beating Leicester City 3-0 in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim is undoubtedly seeing more positive signs from his United side and will hope that the international break doesn’t half the momentum.
Bruno Fernandes has been the star of the show for United with the skipper stepping up on a regular basis.
Bruno bagged a hat-trick against Real Sociedad before notching a goal and assist against Leicester, continuing his fine form.

David De Gea message to Bruno Fernandes
Bruno is surely the Premier League Player of the Month for March and he has brought up a United milestone too.
The Portuguese playmaker has bagged 50 Premier League assists in a United shirt – though David De Gea is contesting that claim.

United posted a video of all 50 Bruno assists onto social media and showcased a nonchalant flick to set up Edinson Cavani against Fulham in 2021.
Fiorentina goalkeeper De Gea played the ball forward in that goal and clearly doesn’t think that Bruno actually touched the ball.
De Gea responded to United’s X post by suggesting that the assist should actually be his and not Bruno’s.
De Gea even added ‘ask him’, seemingly believing that Bruno would back him up and admit that one assist should be knocked off his tally.
David De Gea praised in Italy
The Spaniard is continuing to rebuild his career with Fiorentina having been let go by United in 2023.
De Gea spent a year out of the game as a free agent before Fiorentina handed him a chance.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, former Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey has admitted that he had doubts about De Gea upon his arrival in Florence.
Frey wasn’t sure that De Gea would turn in quality performances given that he had spent a year out of the game.
De Gea appears to have convinced Frey over time though, with the Frenchman defending De Gea for his goalkeeping style.
“I know him by reputation because he has played at a very high level for many years,” said Frey. “To tell the truth I was a bit skeptical… Because of the inactivity. Being out for more than a year (and at that age) is very difficult for a goalkeeper. I thought he needed more time to get back into shape and adapt to a new context”.
“He’s a bit like me. He’s also very instinctive, like me. They said that about me too,” he added when asked about De Gea not coming off his line enough.
“But a goalkeeper has to make choices in a hundredth of a second. Often it’s not a good idea to come out,” he added.
De Gea is clearly still watching United from afar and fans will wish him all the best as he continues to feature prominently for Fiorentina upon his return to football.
