Commanders sign veteran former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman

The Washington Commanders have signed former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Trent Scott, the team announced on Friday. This will be Scott’s third season with the team, who signed him in 2023.

Scott is a veteran NFL player, who first came into the league in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Grambling State. He played his first two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, who then let him walk to the Carolina Panthers.

Scott stayed with the Panthers for two seasons before the Steelers signed him. The Steelers kept Scott for training camp, where he impressed, moving up the depth chart slowly. He joined the active roster on September 1 and stayed there for the rest of the season.

Following the one-year in Pittsburgh, Scott headed to the Commanders. He even scored a touchdown in 2024 as a tackle eligible against the Cincinnati Bengals, catching a one-yard touchdown pass.

The new deal is just for one year, but will give the Commanders experienced depth along their offensive line. Scott has started 23 games in his NFL career, and played in 88 games.
