Rangers will be hoping for a change in fortunes under the 49ers ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gers are on the verge of a takeover after relevant paperwork was filed ahead of a deal going through in the coming weeks.
This represents the start of a new era at Ibrox as the Light Blues play catchup with their Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
In order to do so, the transfer window is going to be hugely important and now a budget update has emerged in Govan.

Rangers to have sensible summer transfer spend
There has been a small selection of positive transfer business in G51 in recent years with plenty of frustrating deals being done.

This season has been proof of this with Nedim Bajrami coming in for over £3million and has gone on to have very little impact.
On the flip side, there is good value to be had with the likes of Hamza Igamane who has proven to be a gem in the Light Blues’ side.

Looking ahead to the summer window, the Gers will be hoping for a positive window under new ownership but the budget may not be what many fans are hoping for.
Writing for the Rangers Review (23 March), Chris Jack has suggested a sensible amount will be spent as opposed to going “overboard” at Ibrox.
He said: “This figure will make a great headline and spark plenty of debate and discussion but it is too early to say what the Americans will do in the window.
“There will need to be investment in the squad but there are so many variables right now – most notably the positions of sporting director and manager. Nils Koppen, the technical director, has started planning for the summer but what Rangers will spend remains up in the air.
“What can be said for sure is that it will be done sensibly and sustainably. As ever, it is about how Rangers spend their money that is the most important thing rather than the quantum of the budget. Fans have seen, after all, the issues that poor recruitment can cause.
“The Newcastle United example is a pertinent one to take note of. Owners having money is one thing, but being able to spend it is quite another. Don’t expect Rangers to go overboard in the first window given the financial framework regulations that are in place.”

49ers must remain patient with Rangers transfers
The Newcastle example raised by Jack is something which should ring true with the Ibrox faithful.
The Magpies have the richest owners in world football but have been unable to spend as they would have liked since their takeover was complete.
With that being said, transfers have added to the squad season by season and has now culminated in them winning the 2024/25 League Cup.
This sort of strategy could be adopted at Ibrox and prove to be effective under Koppen as the Gers look to shorten the gap to Celtic.
It will be interesting to see who could be managing these dealings as current interim boss, Barry Ferguson’s future hangs in the balance.
Whoever is chosen as the head coach in Govan, it is destined to be an exciting spell under the 49ers’ ownership.
