The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently still in need of a new quarterback. While they are being heavily connected to Aaron Rodgers, there is no long-term plan in place right now.
Even if the Steelers do bring Rodgers onboard, they will likely only get a year or two out of him. Pittsburgh will need to focus on bringing in a player that it can build around for years to come as well.
Looking ahead to the 2025 NFL draft, which will begin in just over a month, there are plenty of potential options the Steelers could consider.
In a new projection, Pittsburgh has been predicted to land their future franchise signal caller.
Ian Valentino of A to Z Sports has predicted that the Steelers will land Ole Miss standout quarterback Jaxson Dart with the No. 21 overall pick in the draft.
"The prospect of bringing Justin Fields back after an encouraging stint in 2024 is a positive for Pittsburgh, but throwing one dart at the position isn't enough. Jaxson Dart has separated himself as the QB3 with his pro-ready accuracy, confidence, experience, and athleticism," Valentino wrote. "He doesn't have a high upside, but being a steady, borderline Pro Bowler could be enough to give the Steelers to win a Super Bowl."
Dart has been projected as high as No. 7 overall. There is a chance that he won't be available when Pittsburgh is on the clock.
During the 2024 college football season with Ole Miss, Dart completed 69.3% of his passes for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He also rushed for 495 yards and three touchdowns.
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com has made an interesting comparison for Dart. He believes that Gardner Minshew is a potentially similar player.
