Everton supporters may be looking forward to life at Bramley-Moore Dock but there are issues that need to be smoothed out before the move.

The first test event at the Blues’ new home was held back in February when Everton’s under-18s fell to a 2-1 defeat. The event went fairly well but there were some teething issues, particularly around the ease of getting to Bramley-Moore Dock for some supporters.

A second event is being held on Sunday (23 March) with an under-21 fixture against Bolton Wanderers B with another 25,000 supporters set to attend the game.

Everton face more struggles in test event

With the end of the Premier League season edging closer, Everton will want the transition to their new ground to be as seamless as possible.

The test events are a good way of figuring out any teething issues although after last time, a problem occurring so soon into the day was not ideal for the Blues.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Merseyrail had announced via X that extra services would start from 11:51am with the aim of making it easier for the travelling supporters.

However, in response, journalist Tony Scott shared an early problem on X (23 March) as he posted: “Already the 11:49 Ormskirk train to Sandhills absolutely rammed. Probably could have done with putting these extra trains on earlier.”

Everton looking ahead to better times

Everton will kick off life in their new stadium at the start of next season which does give the Blues the opportunity to work with local authorities and iron out the problems being faced in the test events.

Clearly there are going to be plenty of supporters heading to the real games and if the trains are already too busy, extra services will need to be run earlier.

Even though there are early problems, this won’t be raining on anyone’s parade and supporters will no doubt be looking forward to a move that will represent a new era in Merseyside.

Since David Moyes returned to Goodison Park as manager, he has taken the club from one point above relegation to now being 17 points clear and out of a battle to go down.

The ownership of the Friedkin Group takes pressure off the Toffees financially and with Angus Kinnear set to join the Blues from Leeds United in the summer, there is plenty being put in place to look forward.

It has been a tough few years for Everton supporters but as it stands, the future looks very optimistic as Moyes prepares to oversee a transformation of the club both on and off the pitch.
