Stay, Go, Hello: Kansas rebuilds around incoming star freshman Darryn Peterson

A season that began with so much promise has come to an end for Bill Self and Kansas in devastating fashion as they completely melted down in the final four minutes of their NCAA Tournament first-round loss to Arkansas. It was Jayhawks' first opening-round loss since 2006.

The No. 1 team in the preseason AP Top 25 showed flashes of why it was ranked so high in early-season wins over Michigan State and Duke on neutral floors.

But beyond a few high-water marks, things just never seemed to get headed in the right direction. The pieces didn't fit.

Despite the ugly ending, it wasn't all terrible for the Jayhawks. They did extend their NCAA Tournament streak to 35 consecutive appearances, won at least 20 games for the 36th straight season and emerged victorious on Senior Night for an absurd 42nd year in a row.

With the season now in the rearview mirror, it's time to look ahead.

How does Self rebuild this team? Who is out? Who is on the way in and what will be needed to get Kansas back to the top of the Big 12 after a disappointing sixth-place finish?
