Leeds United have been handed a possible boost amid ongoing links to West Ham star Mohammed Kudus as they continue to plan for life back in the Premier League - if promotion is rubber-stamped.
The Whites currently sit top of the EFL Championship table on goal difference. They have a two-point gap to third-placed Burnley and will attempt to maintain, or even increase, that advantage between now and the season's end.
If that is the case, then Daniel Farke's team will be playing in the Premier League in the 2025/2016 campaign. Plans for that dream eventually are, seemingly, being put in place.
There has been some talk over the last few days that Leeds could be 'interested' in West Ham's Kudus. Despite being a regular in the Hammers' starting XI this season, the Ghanaian has struggled for form - scoring just three times in the Premier League.
That has led to tentative speculation that he could move on in the summer transfer window, and it could become more likely should West Ham be successful in their reported pursuit for two other players.
ChronicleLive report that West Ham have offered a £100,000 per-week contract to Lille's soon-to-be free agent, Angel Gomes. However, he's said to have turned it down, with it being 'nowhere near' other offers received. West Ham would therefore have to significantly improve their offer if they wish to win the race for him on a free transfer this summer.
Reports in Spain also claim that West Ham are eyeing a move for another Lille player out of contract at the end of the season. Dario Sport report that West Ham have made an 'irresistible' offer to forward Jonathan David to try and convince him to move to the London Stadium.
If West Ham continue to pursue Lille's two soon-to-be free agents, then they might need to free up room on their wage bill, in order to help with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) - and one way to do that would be to cash-in on Kudus.
With Leeds linked with the 24-year-old, they could potentially take advantage of the situation. It's something that the Whites may be keeping an eye on over the next few weeks.
