Man Utd could sign a player they watched in a game that convinced them to sign Patrick Dorgu

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be an extremely happy man because one sanctioned trip for the Manchester United scouts might be about to land the club two players!

Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven stand as the only two players signed by Man Utd right now for Ruben Amorim and both have been hits.

Patrick Dogu adds dynamism to the left while Ayden Heaven has blown past expectations that were already extremely high to begin with.

Now, they could be about to sign a player who they watched in a game that convinced them to sign Dorgu, so the precedent is certainly positive!

Man Utd keen on Serie A star

It was a game at the beginning of December as Man Utd ramped up their preparations for their first transfer window under their new manager.

The scouts were attending a Serie A game to watch Patrick Dorgu, a largely raw 20-year-old who had changed his position multiple times already in a short career.

What better way to test his mettle than against one of the most successful teams in Italian football history? Lecce vs Juventus was that game on December 2, 2024.

Tuttosport report that Dorgu impressed United in that game but the player he was up against that day is someone they’re also keen on, with the club linked to a summer move for Kenan Yildiz.

Dorgu played on the right-wing that day, directly up against Kenan Yildiz who started as the left-winger in a game that would finish 1-1 in a positive result for Lecce.

Neither Dorgu nor Yildic scored but it seems that both made enough of an impact that United want them on the same team now after that fateful fixture.

Kenan Yildiz to Man Utd needs convincing

While Yildiz is undoubtedly a mercurial talent who will do great things in football since he’s already a club and country regular at the age of 19, his fit at Man Utd is quite uneasy.

For one, United have an abundance of right-footed left-wingers and more importantly, Yildiz hasn’t shown the kind of physicality and running that makes him an easy fit for the attacking midfielder role.

Then comes the prospective bidding war for his services, where the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea have also been credited with an interest.

United won’t have a king’s ransom to spend this summer so they can’t afford to be dragged into a bidding war for a player who’s not even a priority positionally.

That is unless United plan to buy him and play him as a striker, which, at 19 years old, is a repeat of Rsamus Hojlund’s troubles all over again.

Perhaps they can look at another Lecce or Juventus player if that game convinced them so much!
