West Ham United secured a 2-0 win at home against Tottenham Hotspur. An own goal from Rybrink opened the scoring. The visitors kept chasing the equalizer but lacked in the final third. Slow opening of the match
Tottenham Hotspur dominated the opening 15 minutes, holding 78% possession and created a big chance. However, West Ham’s goalkeeper, Szemik denied Morris’ effort.
Against all expctations, it was West Ham United who took the lead. The home team had not been able to get near the Spurs’ box. Asseyi did well, getting the ball to Hanshaw who fired at goal. Rybrink attempted to block Hanshaw’s effort but it deflected off her went straight into the back of her own net.
Quickly finding the equalizer
Tottenham Hotspur responded quickly, pressing high to find an equalizer, but their efforts in the final third fell short. They earned a few free kicks in promising positions, but the deliveries were easily cleared by West Ham United. Especially Ueki was doing an amanzing job defending.
West Ham United had a good spell ten minutes before halftime. Pavi found her way into the game more and caused trouble down the right. The home team nearly doubled their lead from a corner. Siren headed it right at Lize Kop who caught the ball.
Things got very nervy for the The Hammers when Tottenham Hotspur was awarded a free kick around 25 yards out. Summanen stepped up and sent her effort directly toward goal. Spurs were unlucky as it rattled the crossbar with Szemik nowhere near the ball.

Second Half: The woodwork denied Spurs again
Lize Kop proved vital in the second half, making important saves to keep Tottenham Hotspur in the game. She denied an effort from Martinez and a low but powerful shot from Gorry.
Robert Vilahamn had to change tactics now his side still had a chance of winning the game: Vinberg on for Holdt and Naz replaced Grant. Rehanne Skinner added some fresh legs to the pitch as well: Pavi off for Piubel and Denton of for Smith.
Tottenham was very close to the equalizer when Thomas’ her effort hit the post. It was an impressive feat that she got to the ball, as two West Ham UNited defenders were breathing down her neck.
West Ham United double the lead
In the final minutes of the match West Ham United scored their second goal. A free kick taken by Asseyi picks uit Ueki in a crowd of Spurs players. Ueki does not seem to touch the ball so the goal went to Asseyi.
Robert Vilahamn’s side is unable to find the back of the net and lose 2-0 to West Ham United. Meaning that The Hammers overtake Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s Super League table.
