DEFENDER Taylor Harwood-Bellis has returned to Saints after suffering a thigh injury during England under-21s' 5-3 defeat in France on Friday evening.

Young Lions boss Lee Carsley confirmed the 23 year old left the stadium with a crutch but is confident the injury is not too serious.

Harwood-Bellis required treatment after he attempted to cut out a cross for Hugo Ekitike, which the Frankfurt forward scored to complete his hat-trick.

The former Manchester City prospect, who played with a strapped hamstring, appeared to tweak his thigh upon an awkward landing on the turf when sliding in.

He attempted to play on for three minutes before being replaced by Toulouse defender Charlie Cresswell and receiving further treatment on the bench.

Fellow Saints defender Ronnie Edwards later entered the field to make his England debut at this level.

This is the second injury Harwood-Bellis has suffered in 2025 having only recently made his return at Chelsea late last month.

He came on to replace James Bree, who Ivan Juric is confident will be fit to face Crystal Palace after the international break, at Stamford Bridge.

Harwood-Bellis will undergo further checks at Staplewood in the coming days and has over a week to recover before Saints face Palace.

Jan Bednarek missed the 2-1 defeat to Wolves last Saturday with a concussion but made his return to action with Poland on Friday evening.

He played a full 90 minutes in their 1-0 win over Lithuania in World Cup qualifying at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw.
