Andre Onana is being linked with a summer transfer from Manchester United to Saudi Arabia
Andre Onana has now been linked with a summer transfer to the Saudi Pro League. What's more, only last month the Manchester United goalkeeper switched agents to one with experience in securing players passage to the Gulf state.
For United the upcoming transfer window is going to be the most significant of any in recent years. New manager Ruben Amorim will finally arrive at the point where he is able to instil real change at Old Trafford, getting the suitable personnel to play his preferred system.
So far the 40-year-old has made do with the options he has at his disposal, and that has included the use of Onana between the sticks. Signed from Inter for £47.2m almost two years ago, he cane under particular scrutiny after a number of mistakes as the club accumulated a negative goal difference last season.
They are currently on track to do the same in 2024/25, and with no Man United player safe from exodus when the transfer window reopens, the Cameroon international could therefore be one of those replaced.
The Sun claim Onana is 'is set' for a move to Saudi Arabia this summer, having made the huge decision to change agents.
Such a move would make him the latest from Europe's elite to make the move to the Middle East, with almost all signing lucrative contracts. Other past Man United stars to jet over in that direction include Cristiano Ronaldo, Alex Telles and Odion Ighalo.
One reason this move could have been suggested is Onana's suitably timed change of agents ahead of the summer transfer window.
In February the goalkeeper changed his representatives to Fali Ramadani’s Lian Sports agency. On Instagram they wrote: "We are thrilled to welcome Andre Onana the Lian Sports Family."
It just so happens that the same agency worked with former Chelsea goalkeeper and defender Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly, securing the Senegalese pair deals to join Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal respectively.
