If there is one thing the Philadelphia Eagles have had consistently through the years since general manager Howie Roseman has run the team, it's a consistent and dominant offensive line.
The front office regime has seen how important having a great offensive line is to any team. A part of that understanding is the organization's push to always have an answer for when their aging stars are ready to depart.
In 2018, the Eagles found Jordan Mailata to replace Jason Peters. In 2022, the Eagles found Cam Jurgens to replace Jason Kelce.
Now next on the list? All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson.
Johnson signed an extension with the Eagles a week ago to keep him in Philly through the 2027 season. By that point, the former fourth-overall pick will be 37 years old and well past the prime of most tackles in the sport.
So it has come to no surprise now that Johnson is ready to help the Eagles locate a tackle that he can mentor moving forward - just as others have done for him.
"I think that would be an exceptional experience," Johnson said of mentoring his eventual replacement. "I credit Jason Peters for my development, keeping me aware of what the culture was like in the city, what I really need to focus on when I'm playing tackle. He was my biggest mentor."

For Johnson to be willing to do that is a testament to the leadership and brotherhood the Eagles offensive line has built over the years. It's also a sign that the Eagles will continue to be great even after Johnson retires.
"Players [in Philadelphia] have always looked out for the best interest of the team and the organization," said Johnson. "And so, yeah, I'd be honored to be a part of that process [of helping find a successor]."
It's a good problem to have at the very least for the Birds.
