Bucs’ Best Trade Asset Revealed After Bucky Irving Rise

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers struck gold in the fourth round of the draft last season when Bucky Irving fell to the NFC South champs.

Starting behind Rachaad White in the depth chart, Irving was used as a change-up option to White, but it quickly became apparent that Bucky was the better back for what the Buccaneers wanted to do on offense.

As such, he usurped White, and became the starter, leading the Buccaneers in yards (1,122) and touchdowns (eight) to be the straw that stirs Tampa Bay's drink.

Which brings us to White.

Three years in the league and now entering the final year of his rookie deal, it is clear Irving is "the" guy for the Buccaneers going forward, and that has White, for Pro Football Focus, as Tampa Bay's best trade asset this offseason.

"Entering the 2024 season as the team's primary running back, White posted a solid 73.7 PFF rushing grade, operating as the team's pass-blocking back (69.2 PFF pass-blocking grade, sixth best among qualifiers)," Pro Football Focus writes. "Yet, he was quickly overtaken by then-rookie Bucky Irving, whose 90.0 PFF rushing grade slotted seventh among rushers with 100 or more carries. As White heads into a contract season, Tampa Bay could find a replacement in the draft's later rounds."

Plus, we haven't even added in Sean Tucker either, who will be a free agent in 2026, but he has shown he can bring something to the offense and he would be considerably cheaper to keep than White.

There are teams who could use White's services, and while nothing will happen until after the draft or even right before it, but we imagine that teams could call the Bucs to gauge interest in parting ways with Rachaad.

Irving announced himself as a stud in 2024, and in doing so, has thrown White's Buccaneers future into chaos, and after three seasons, maybe Rachaad might be on his way out of the NFC South.
