Newcastle United will have to fend off competition if they want to sign Manchester City playmaker Jack Grealish in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Chronicle Live reported in February that the England international could be offered to Newcastle at the end of the season, although the asking price is expected to be significantly lower than the £100million paid by City to Aston Villa in 2021.
Reports emerged in January claiming that Grealish was a player of interest to Newcastle. Now a fresh update has emerged about the 29-year-old's future as the summer transfer window moves ever closer.
According to the Sunday Express, AC Milan have joined the race to sign Grealish at the end of the season. The report claims that the Serie A giants want to sign Grealish on loan in the summer, and include the option to make the move permanent a year later.
It has been suggested that Milan would be prepared to pay £40million to sign Grealish in 2026, when the proposed loan spell would come to an end.
The report also states that this fee is one City would accept, despite representing a £60million loss on the fee that they would have paid five years earlier.
Chronicle Live also understands that Grealish would be open to a move to Newcastle in the summer should one materialise.
The playmaker has struggled for regular game time at City this season, featuring 26 times with just two goals to his name, neither of which have come in the Premier League.
Grealish has two years remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium, where he is reported to earn £300,000 per week.
The 29-year-old would have to take a major pay cut in order to complete a move to Tyneside when the summer transfer window opens.
Grealish was spotted in the North East enjoying a night out in the Toon at the beginning of March, further hinting that his future may lie on the banks of the River Tyne.
