Sean Dyche has taken aim at Everton fans for not understanding the scope of his work at Goodison Park.

The English manager was sacked in January as the Toffees struggled for consistency and put in underwhelming performances.

Supporters were fearful of Premier League relegation under Dyche, as the Blues sat close to the drop zone during his stint.

David Moyes has turned things around at Goodison Park, though, going on an eight-game unbeaten run in the English top flight.

Everton in worse shape than Dyche thought

Supporters don’t understand the amount of work that needed to be done behind the scenes at the Toffees, Dyche says.

The former Blues manager revealed that the Merseyside outfit were in a worse shape than he had initially thought, with several things needing correcting.

Dyche’s record in the Premier League at Everton this season.

Dyche claims that, along with his staff and Kevin Thelwell, he had to resolve many issues that supporters weren’t aware of.

Speaking on talkSPORT (23 March, 12:18), the ex-Burnley boss said: “People only see what they see, and that’s fine. Fans don’t understand the amount that we had to do behind the scenes — and that’s not just me to make that clear, by the way — my staff, Thelwell worked very hard with the powers-at-be at the club as well.

“There was a lot that needed correcting — not just on the pitch, I mean all sorts needed correcting. I went in there with an idea of thinking it was this, and it wasn’t — it was miles away from where I thought it was — it was in a lot worse shape.”

Moyes has proven Dyche wrong at Goodison Park

Moyes has turned things around at Everton despite having the same squad Dyche had at his disposal.

Beto has been impressive at Goodison Park under the Scottish manager, showcasing the inability of the former Burnley boss to bring the best out of his players.

Carlos Alcaraz was Moyes’ only signing in the winter transfer window, meaning the Toffees haven’t gone through any sort of squad rebuild yet.

While Dyche struggled to string a run of positive results in the current campaign, the Scottish manager has been able to do so with the same set of players.

The Friedkin Group’s (TFG’s) decision to replace the former Burnley head coach has paid dividends.

No matter how Dyche tries to spin things, the Goodison faithful witnessed some of the worst football under him.

Farhad Moshiri’s mismanagement at the Blues has undoubtedly had a role to play in their decline over the years, but the displays on the pitch weren’t good enough either in the first half of the current campaign.

The ex-Toffees boss helped the Merseyside outfit avoid relegation, but beyond that, he won’t be remembered for much at Goodison Park.
