Insider Reveals Details Behind Warriors’ Recent Roster Decision

The Golden State Warriors have been fighting for playoff positioning in a tightly contested Western Conference, sitting at 41-30 as the season enters its final stretch.

Since acquiring Jimmy Butler, the team has gone on an impressive run, winning 14 of their last 17 games and showing signs of being a legitimate contender.

However, injuries and consistency issues remain hurdles as they push toward the postseason.

In their most recent game, the Warriors fell 124-115 to the Atlanta Hawks.

With Stephen Curry sidelined due to a left pelvic contusion, Golden State struggled to contain Atlanta's offense, allowing them to shoot 57% from the field.

Jimmy Butler led the charge with 25 points and 8 assists, but without Curry's scoring and playmaking, the Warriors couldn't keep up.

The loss was a reminder that depth will play a crucial role in the coming weeks, making every roster decision more significant.

Warriors details emerge

With that in mind, the Warriors are signing forward Kevin Knox for the rest of the season, according to ESPN sources.

The former No. 9 overall pick had been with Golden State on two 10-day contracts, appearing in seven games and averaging 4 points in 7 minutes per game.

His best performance came in a 12-point outing against Charlotte in late February.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area's Dalton Johnson, the move was always part of the plan:

"This has been the plan. Warriors saved money by not having Kevin Knox on the roster after his second 10-day ended but couldn't have only 13 players on NBA contracts any longer," Dalton said.

"Best case for both sides. Kevin Knox wanted to remain with the Warriors and vice versa."

The signing not only meets NBA roster requirements but also provides Golden State with additional frontcourt depth at the power forward position as they prepare for the playoffs.

With Curry expected to return soon and Knox back in the mix, the Warriors are looking to tighten their rotation and solidify their playoff standing.
