Sir Alex Ferguson plays tribute to the late Dennis Law before Scotland's UEFA Nations League play-offs, second leg match against Greece
BBC Sport was forced to issue on on-air apology as Sir Alex Ferguson led a tribute to Manchester United and Scotland legend Denis Law ahead of Sunday's UEFA Nations League match with Greece following technical issues.
At the age of 84, Law sadly passed away in January. He is a Man United legend by way of 404 appearances for the club, scoring 237 goals in that period, and is immortalised at Old Trafford with two statues.
His funeral at Manchester Cathedral in February was attended by Ferguson, a number of former servants of the club plus present members such as manager Ruben Amorim and captain Bruno Fernandes. Law is also the joint-most prolific goalscorer the nation of Scotland has ever known, netting 30 in 55 caps, and with Sunday's Nations League fixture vs Greece at Hampden Park their first at home since the former player's death, they paid tribute with a minute's applause.
Whilst this happened Ferguson, joined by Law's relatives on the touchline, held a commemorative Scotland shirt aloft with 'Law 10' on the reverse as the 51,000-capacity stadium took part in the emotional homage.
Unfortunately for those watching at home in Scotland via BBC Scotland or in the wider United Kingdom via BBC One, BBC iPlayer or the BBC Sport website, the experience was impacted by difficulties around the broadcast's sound.

A visible message on the screen read: "We apologise for lack of commentary," which had been preceded by further technical troubles when BBC's pundits were previewing the game.
Commentary would pick up 21 seconds into the match with commentator Liam McLeod this time audibly announcing: "Apologies for the lack of commentary right now, we're trying to get that sorted. In the meantime Greece are clearly on the ball and the match is underway here at Hampden Park."
In a later mishap out of BBC's control when the matchball needed replacing in the 15th minute, he would add: "Problems aplenty at the national stadium, hopefully the sound has been sorted. So, apologies again if it's impacting on your enjoyment of the match but Scotland have settled well."
